HISTORY OF FRIENDS OF WILDLIFE
Friends of WildLife, a non-profit organization, was formed to improve Webster Pond to include maintenance, events and fund-raising . All proceeds are donations to benefit Webster Duck Pond .

Est: June 2014
 By: Chad Norton and Friends

Our first major project was to renovate the back trails around the pond making them handicap accessible. Many more updates to come, Click the categories to the left to find out what’s new and how you can help.

The new Veterans Memorial trail was primarily launched through the generous donation by Covanta of Onondaga, through the efforts of Mike Riley, Shift Supervisor, and Kathy Carroll, Business Manager, of $2300.00 for the bridge renovations. Covanta's Corporate office was inspired to match any donations from the community including individuals and businesses, up to $5,000.00. The resulting press conference, where Covanta presented the check for $2300.00  got the attention of Tracy Saunders of Saunders Companies, who decided to donate the gravel for the project.

The renovations were originally planned over the next five years in two phases; the bridge phase, and the trail phase. However, through the efforts of ECK, headed up by owner Tim Nelson, and his son Erik, as well as the above benefactors, the renovations were completed in just 8 months.

More exciting news, most of you probably remember the old homestead site marker on the trail where Ephraim  Webster house once stood. The marker was dilapidated  and no longer legible, Thanks  to Mike Riley who had his friend Kevin Shadwick whose hobby is woodworking, hand carve a soild oak sign with Webster’s photo  Mike and his generosity took it one step further and handcrafted an enclosure to keep the sign out of the elements
